Why Do Men Pay Higher Rates for Auto Insurance Than Women?

The majority of the male drivers generally tend to consider their opposite sex counterparts less competent on the road. However insurance companies beg to differ, emphasizing the false allegations towards women, by offering them much better premium rates. One might assume that insurance companies are being condescending; however businesses like this are not prone to prejudgment with the road hazard evaluation. Insurance firms are impartial to general belief, biasing their final assessment on data and statistics.

Surprisingly, women are far safer drivers, following the road rules zealously, consequently significantly reducing the traffic accident rates, or in worst case scenarios, not being the cause of an accident. Hence women are less likely to claim from the car insurance company then men are. Moreover, insurance companies normally favor those who drive common cars rather than sport, luxury cars or cars with any cosmetic modifications, which is commonly known to be a prerogative of men. What really rubs it in for men is that women might not be better drivers, but are regarded as better, and in our case, lower risk customers. Heads up for women though, it is noted that female drivers now drive longer and further. Bigger distances and larger mileage is not something an insurance company will consider as an asset. The less you drive, the less likely you will violate any traffic rule. The increase in the prices of auto insurance for women is to be seen in near future, but so far they do receive better benefits than men.

All those facts are collected mostly from police offices and hospitals. Paramedics inform of fewer women in their ambulance vans as drivers and police officers mostly take men into custody for a serious traffic offense.

Still the age of the driver plays a major role in risk assessment. Obviously more experienced lady is much more eligible for discounts and saving whilst buying insurance than a younger girl. However even a teenaged woman is less of a liability to insure than a fully experienced male driver, due to the aggressive behavior on the road.

A pregnant woman is eligible for the lower insurance cost as well. She has to eat the right food, stretch her legs every now and then, put the seat-belts on for her and her own child’s protection, keep the correct distance between her and the steering wheel and no driving at night. She might not know she is following that list, but she has to, due to her pregnancy. Insurance firms know that and assess it with their final statement.

According to the information provided to the insurance companies, they are not gambling with giving away cheaper insurance rates to women. They are safe drivers, their cars are secure, and they never exceed speed limits or break a traffic rule. There is nothing more to ask from the insurance companies. There is nothing to lose for them. All things considered, neither men nor women can accuse auto insurance companies for being gender biased.
